Cheesecake Party Planning
How to Host a Party You Enjoy
Do you dread the entertaining obligations
of the holiday season? Sure, it’s food and fun
for all of your guests but for you it’s hours of laborious
effort in the kitchen before hand and hours of thankless
cleaning after everyone goes home. What if you could throw a
party and enjoy it at the same time? Read on for some time and
sanity-saving suggestions!
1)
You
are not obliged to provide your guests with a full scale
meal! Whether you
are entertaining friends or family, they will be satisfied with
company, drinks, hors d'oeuvres, and/or
desert. If a
full meal is a family or holiday tradition, why not
organize relatives to bring their favorites dishes while
you supply coffee and a tasty cheesecake for
desert? Get
your relatives involved; remember, holding the gathering
at your place should not mean that you do all the
work.
2)
As
for that tasty cheesecake—forget last minute runs to the
grocery store or bakery!—order a cheesecake online and have it
delivered to your door the day of your party. No need to take time away
from the other household preparations; order several
cheesecakes in advance and check “dessert” off of your to do
list.
3)
What
about post-party clean-up? One way to cut down on the
number of dishes used by your guests (in an appetizer or buffet
situation) is to use identifying markers for their glasses and
plates to keep them from reaching for new ones each time they
misplace their own. Many savvy hosts acquire
wineglass rings that, once placed around the base of the glass,
serve to identify the glass as theirs. Likewise, unique plate ware
will help your guests identify and keep track of their plates.
4)
If
you are lucky enough to live in the warmer climates, try
hosting a party outdoors. Moving the party outside will
greatly cut down on the cleaning required of you
afterwards. If you
happen to live in the north like myself, invite your guests to
remove their shoes before entering your
house. This
strategy will not only make cleaning easier once your
guests leave, it will go a long way towards saving your
wood floor and/or carpets from permanent party
damage.
Try some of
these time and energy saving tips and take the stress out of
hosting a party. And, before the party is
over, don’t forget to sneak a bite of that
cheesecake!
Your guests will enjoy themselves even more if their host is
also relaxed and having fun.
